Upon Arrival

Before you arrive at Sparrow Eyecare please be sure to bring a full list of medications you’re currently taking along with any eyeglasses or contact lenses you wear.
Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted and checked in by our team. If this is your first visit, you’ll be asked to fill out a few forms that will give us insight into your current health status and your health history. Once completed you’ll promptly be brought back to one of our pre-testing rooms.
A few machines will be used to take measurements and pictures of your eye before you see the doctor. These machines take the topography (surface mapping), preliminary prescription power, photos of the retina and a few cross-section scans.

Once your pre-testing is complete, you’ll be lead to one of our comfortable exam rooms where your appointment will begin. The doctor will examine you with lights of many kinds as well as possibly dilating your eyes. Dilation drops are safe and well-tolerated by all groups. It is typical for your eyes to remain dilated for anywhere from 2-4 hrs afterward. Dilation is optional but recommended to evaluate eye health completely.

During Your Appointment

Dr. Talbott will begin your appointment by asking you about your eyes and how they’re performing for you.
Next, we’ll fine tune your prescription to ensure no updates or changes need to be made. Then we will examine the surface structure of your eyes and dilation may be needed to examine the back of the eye.
It is common for children to be dilated during their appointment so Dr. Talbott can get a precise understanding of the child’s prescription needs.
Unless your results are abnormal, we provide your glasses prescription the same day.
Throughout your appointment, you’ll notice the use of certain technology that will make your experience faster and more comfortable. For example, we’ve replaced the common air-puff with a new non-contact tonometer!
